Chinese operator China Mobile announced the launch of its 5G-Advanced network, also known as 5.5G. At the same time, Oppo announced that its flagship Find X7 and Find X7 Ultra smartphones, released in January, are already compatible with the new communications standard. reports WCCFTech portal.
Oppo CEO Pete Lau confirmed the device’s new network support by publishing an image showing the 5GA symbol on the screen of the Find X7 Ultra. The 5G-Advanced standard allows download speeds of up to 10 Gbps and upload speeds of up to 1 Gbps.
The new standard is planned to be implemented in 300 cities across China by the end of this year, with the first hundred including Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Testing sites already exist in some parts of China.
The 5.5G network also includes the use of satellite technologies in conjunction with Oppo’s launch of its updated flagship smartphone with satellite support, the Find X7 Ultra. The updated version, which costs 7,499 yuan (about 95.2 thousand rubles), received 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal storage capacity.
