Apple is expected to announce iOS 18 at WWDC 2024, its annual developer conference held in June. The most important change in the updated version of the system will be the integration of artificial intelligence, including proprietary applications and the Siri voice assistant, into the system. Gurman believes that in iOS 18, Apple will focus not on generative AI like ChatGPT, but on new tools that will help users in daily life. It’s still unclear what this might mean.
Additionally, the company plans to add support for the RCS standard to the Messages app in iOS 18 so that iPhone and Android users can exchange messages with each other. Google, the developer of the Android operating system, has repeatedly requested that RCS support be added to the iPhone.
The operating system is also expected to be subject to design changes and much more. According to Apple employees, iOS 18 will be one of the biggest updates in the company’s history.
