The government of the Russian Federation decided that, in accordance with the government decree, the owners of websites and services of information dissemination organizers (IDs) must store information on geographical location and payment method, and also make it available to the authorities upon request. This was reported by RIA News.
The publication points out that changes have been made to the “rules on retention of information (ORI) for those regulating the dissemination of information on the Internet”, which came into force on July 1, 2018.
Before that, the Federal Security Service (FSB) intend Require internet companies to store data on payments and users’ geographic locations.
It is stated that such measures will affect Internet sites and services that are registered with the organizers of information dissemination (ORI). In particular, the FSB plans to complete the rules on the storage of user data by adding clauses on geographical location and payment instruments.
Last September, the press service of the Russian government statedcitizens will be able to submit and withdraw consents to the processing of their biometric personal data in the Unified Biometric System, as well as access information about such consents in their personal accounts on the State Services portal.
