The upcoming affordable smartphone Google Pixel 8a will have an improved high-brightness display and 120Hz refresh rate. In this respect reports Android Authority portal with insider link to Kamil Wojciechowski.
Google’s mid-budget smartphone will feature a 6.1-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels and a frequency of 120 Hz, while last year’s model only offered 90 Hz. Additionally, the new product will offer peak brightness at the flagship Pixel 8 level of up to 1400 nits.
The performance of the Pixel 8a will be provided by the proprietary Google Tensor G3 chip, which is also used in the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro models. However, Google will use a simplified chip layout in this model, which will increase the thickness and heat dissipation of the device.
The cameras will not change from the previous model; Pixel 8a will be equipped with a 64 MP Sony IMX787 sensor and a 13 MP Sony IMX712 wide-angle sensor. The 13 MP selfie camera will have a Sony IMX712 sensor.
In addition, the smartphone will differ from other mid-budget and sub-flagship solutions by the presence of a USB Type-C connector that supports DisplayPort mode, which allows you to connect the device to monitors.
The presentation of Google Pixel 8a is expected to be held at the Google I/O 2024 conference, which will start on May 14.
