Apple suppliers will begin production of two fourth-generation AirPods models in May 2024. Based on these timings, the headphones are expected to be released in September or October. In this respect reports MacRumors cites a new newsletter from Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman.

Gurman expects both AirPods 4 models to feature a new design, improved audio quality, and an updated charging case with a USB-C port. According to him, the more expensive model will also get a speaker for active noise cancellation and tracking the device’s location by voice via the Find My app.

The insider also reported that Apple plans to discontinue the second and third generation AirPods. According to him, this will happen this year after the launch of AirPods 4.

Gurman also shared his thoughts on the upcoming version of AirPods Pro. According to him, it will not be released before 2025. The new model should at least have the hearing aid mode and hearing test feature that will appear on the existing AirPods Pro model with the release of iOS 18.
