Users of the Google Chrome browser are complaining about new Microsoft ads aimed at promoting the Bing search engine and the Copilot chatbot running on GPT-4. The pop-up window takes up a significant portion of the screen and actively encourages the user to choose a new search engine, reports Windows Latest portal.

In the window that appears in the lower-right corner of the screen, Chrome browser users are asked to set the default search engine to Bing, which has a built-in chatbot based on the GPT-4 language model. Microsoft also emphasizes that this AI is free and that it is easy to return everything to its original place by setting Google as the default search engine. In response to the offer, users are presented with two button options: “Yes” and “No, thank you.”

However, users were not satisfied with such ads. According to some, the pop-up window takes up a significant portion of the screen and blocks important information. In some cases, users did not notice the opt-out button and accepted the offer.

Microsoft stated that the ad was a one-off and that the user who rejects the offer will no longer see this pop-up window. “We value giving our customers choice, so there is an option to decline the notification,” the company added.

Previously Microsoft and Amazon announced about stopping the operation of cloud products in Russia.
