According to Apple’s press release, the Web Distribution functionality will allow you to download IPA app files from official developer websites, bypassing traditional app stores, similar to how Android installs APK files. This will be possible thanks to access to special APIs that will facilitate the integration of applications with core operating system functions, including backup and recovery.
To ensure security and compliance, Apple requires all websites on which apps will be distributed to be registered with App Store Connect, the personal account of iPhone and iPad app developers.
