Google introduced a battery statistics tracking feature in the Android 14 QPR1 beta that shows the number of charge cycles and the manufacturing date of the battery. However, the novelty disappeared in the March update, and then Google decided to clarify the issue. reports 9to5Google portal.
As Google explains on its issue tracking page, this feature was not intended for existing devices. It turns out that battery stats are only supported on the unreleased Pixel 8a and future Pixel models.
“We only enable this page on Pixel 8a and later, so it works as intended,” the company said in a blog post. Thus, Google confirmed that Pixel 8a will be released soon. However, until the last update, this function worked on existing Pixel smartphones, but in some cases the statistics were displayed incorrectly.
A full presentation of the Pixel 8a budget is expected in the next few months. The company is expected to show its new product at the Google I/O 2024 conference in May.
