US President Joe Biden said he would sign a bill banning TikTok in the country if the document is approved by Congress. This was reported by NBC News.
The channel quotes Biden as saying, “If accepted, I will sign it.”
The bill, aimed at protecting Americans from apps controlled by foreign attackers, was sponsored by Wisconsin Republican Mike Gallagher and Illinois Democrat Raja Krishnamurthy.
The bill could force ByteDance, the Chinese company that owns TikTok, to give up control of the app for six months or could be banned in the United States.
On March 8, the U.S. House of Representatives Commerce and Energy Committee unanimously voted approved A bill that could lead to TikTok being banned in the US.
