Picture-in-Picture (PiP) functionality, which was previously only available with a paid Premium subscription, has started working for some YouTube users outside the US. In this respect reports Android Police portal with links to posts on social networks and forums.
Originally, the ability to shrink a video to a small, neat window for full use of your smartphone and other apps was available as part of a paid YouTube Premium subscription. Moreover, this function became free for US users in 2022. Now some users from European countries have noticed this on their Android smartphones and iPhones.
YouTube has not announced plans to make the feature free outside the US, and the video-sharing site still lists PiP as exclusive to Premium subscribers. “Picture in Picture” working in this context may work for some users due to an unknown bug or Google has started testing this functionality for its next launch. There has been no response from the company yet regarding this issue.
