Microsoft announced the launch of the extended deployment phase of Windows 11 23H2. Compatible devices running older versions of Windows 11 will automatically update to the new version. reports Tom’s Hardware portal.

The company states that the update is designed to improve the security and functionality of Windows 11 computers whose support has ended or is about to end. Therefore, the update will affect users of computers with Windows 11 21H2 and 22H2. Support for the first version ended in October 2023, and the second version will be supported until October this year. From now on, Microsoft will not release updates for them, including security patches.

Microsoft is using artificial intelligence to identify devices best suited to upgrade to Windows 11 23H2. This will prevent possible problems with the update. Thus, devices that may have difficulty installing a new operating system while updating will be updated last.
