Apple surpassed Samsung for the first time in 21 months in smartphone shipments in Europe in the fourth quarter of 2023. By analytics company channelsThere was a 3% decrease in the entire European smartphone market.

According to Canalys’ latest research, smartphone shipments in Europe (excluding Russia) decreased to 37.8 million units in the fourth quarter of 2023 compared to the same period last year. Apple became the market leader by increasing its shipments by 1% to 12.4 million units. It was noted that Apple was able to take first place due to the high demand for the iPhone 15 series.

Samsung came in second with 10.8 million smartphones (down 12%). The top three were closed by Xiaomi, whose smartphone shipments reached 6 million units in 2022, 10% less than in 2022.

Moreover, despite the difficult economic situation, demand for premium models was at an all-time high; Almost 40% of smartphones sold were priced at $800 or more.

Analysts expect growth in the European smartphone market, driven by the upcoming refresh cycle of devices purchased during the pandemic.
