OpenAI co-founder Andrey Karpaty, who specializes in deep learning and computer vision, has left the company. This is what he’s talking about announced on his page on X (formerly Twitter).

Karpaty did not reveal details about his plans, saying he wanted to devote time to his personal projects. He also noted that the last year at OpenAI was “excellent” and that his departure was not related to any internal issues.

An OpenAI representative is confirmed on the portal TechCrunchHe said that Karpaty left the company and his duties were transferred to a certain senior investigator who worked closely with Andrey.

Karpaty is one of the founders of OpenAI, which was created in 2015 with the aim of developing artificial intelligence for the benefit of all humanity. He moved to Tesla in 2017, where he became director of artificial intelligence and autopilot, but left the automaker five years later and returned to OpenAI.

At the end of 2023, OpenAI co-founder and CEO Sam Altman was fired from the company and its board of directors. Other co-founders and senior researchers followed, causing discontent among investors and employees who demanded the founders be reinstated and the board reformed. A few days later, Altman was reinstated with a new board of directors.
