Gemini, Google’s new artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, is controversial due to its combination of strengths and weaknesses. This conclusion was reached by a technology observer. portal The Verge’s Allison Johnson tested the recently released Gemini app on Android.

The expert said Gemini’s integration features with other Google services, including Google Maps and Google Docs documents, are useful. According to his review, AI is good at helping create routes, take notes, and summarize data from emails.

Johnson noted that the main problem with Google AI is its inability to recognize the context of questions well compared to ChatGPT and other competing AI models.

When a journalist asked Gemini to help him plan a short bike ride in a nearby city, the chatbot offered him a variety of entertainment options, including scuba diving lessons, a visit to the theater, and a visit to a casino.

Johnson gave the same task to ChatGPT, which suggested several parks, a cafe and a bookstore.

Additionally, Gemini’s speech support function is worse. According to the observer, communicating with Google’s chatbot is more reminiscent of working with the company’s search engine, as Gemini prefers to answer questions with snippets of text from sources on topics of interest.

Allison Johnson described Gemini as “AI-optional” and expressed hope that Google would develop its new product with competitors’ experience in mind.

Previously Google officially presented new artificial intelligence chatbot Gemini.
