The new date of the tourists’ first spacewalk has been announced

The launch of the private space mission Polaris Dawn has been postponed from April 2024 to the summer. Representatives of the company Polaris Programm reported this on their site. page on social network X (formerly Twitter).

During Polaris Dawn, the first spacewalk by space tourists outside of a ship is planned. The team also plans to conduct a series of scientific experiments.
As the Polaris Program explains, additional months of preparation will be required to achieve the project’s goals and ensure the crew’s safe return to Earth.

The mission team will consist of four people: billionaire and private space program Polaris Jared Isaacman, retired US Air Force Colonel Scott Poteet, and SpaceX engineers Sarah Gillies and Anne Menon.

Space tourists will enter orbit in the Crew Dragon module on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket. The journey beyond Earth will take five days.

This isn’t the first time the Polaris Dawn launch has been delayed. The mission was originally planned to launch in late 2022.

Previously at NASA deferred Sending humans to the Moon for at least a year.
