U.S. law enforcement officials detained 17-year-old Alan Filion, who was involved in hundreds of so-called “assaults” and called the police assault team under false pretenses. It was possible to identify the bully by his IP address, reports CNN TV channel.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office in Florida was able to trace a young man’s call to 911 in May 2023. During this call, the young man stated his intention to shoot at the Masij Al-Hai mosque in Sanford. The caller said that he had a gun and explosives in his hand, and that gunshots and screams were recorded in the background. After the alleged attack, nearly 30 police officers went to the scene.

The investigation believes the young man’s other targets previously included schools, government agencies, FBI offices and even military bases across the country.

The FBI and the US Department of Justice joined the investigation into the serial prankster case. Law enforcement discovered several accounts on the young man’s websites organizing fake calls to emergency services, and these accounts turned out to be linked to the criminal’s home IP address. FBI officers then obtained a search warrant for the teenager’s home and found evidence of his involvement in the crimes.

Filion was charged with multiple felonies, including falsely reporting the preparation or execution of a terrorist attack. Under Florida law, the penalty for swinging is up to 20 years in prison.
