First of all, the changes to be made in iOS 18 will affect Siri. The updated voice assistant will receive a new core in the form of generative artificial intelligence that Apple is working on. This innovation will make Siri more useful and smarter.
Generative AI will also be embedded into other operating system services. So far it is known that Apple Music will definitely be one of them. It was not reported which functions the artificial intelligence will be responsible for.
Another big innovation in iOS 18 will be support for the Rich Communication Services (RCS) messaging standard. RCS is an advanced analogue of SMS that has no character limit per message, but allows multimedia exchange and supports metadata about contacts.
The beta version of iOS 18 is expected to be released in summer 2024, traditionally after the annual WWDC developer conference. The release of the public version will occur alongside or shortly after the launch of the iPhone 16.
