Nintendo’s new game console, Switch 2, will have a built-in 8-inch LCD screen. In this respect reports Bloomberg quotes Omdia analyst Hiroshi Hayase.
Thus, Switch 2 will have the largest screen among both Nintendo portable consoles and similar devices from other brands. For comparison, we can say that the Steam Deck OLED, released in 2023, has a 7.4-inch diagonal screen.
It is unknown which company will be the display supplier of Switch 2. However, according to initial rumors, Nintendo has entered into a partnership with Sharp. Sharp recently became owned by Foxconn Technology Group, the largest contract electronics manufacturer.
Nintendo told Bloomberg it would not comment on the Omdia analyst’s information.
It has not yet been announced exactly when the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released. However, according to Hayate, the device will be released this year.
The original Nintendo Switch was released in 2017 and sold over 132 million units in seven years.
