Turkish authorities may block access to a number of popular VPN services ahead of the elections. A British newspaper is reporting this based on the documents it has. Finance Times (FT).

According to the publication, Turkey’s Information Technologies and Communications Authority requested local Internet providers to suspend access to 16 VPN services. It is thought that the reason for this request is the local elections to be held in the country in March.

According to reports, the regulator has put forward a requirement for providers to inform it of how the blocking of VPN services is progressing. The newspaper states that accessing VPN in Turkey has now become much more difficult.
