The creators of the popular game engine Unity laid off 1.8 thousand people last week alone, the streaming service Twitch laid off 500 people, and the social platform Discord for communication between gamers terminated the employment of 170 employees, journalists have learned.

On Friday, January 12, it became known that at least dozens of people were laid off from the Lost Boys Interactive game studio, owned by American developer Gearbox. Lost Boys Interactive has been involved in the creation of major gaming projects such as the latest installment of the cult action role-playing series Diablo IV and the first-person action RPG Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, an offshoot of the popular Borderlands game series.

In total, more than 400 people worked at Lost Boys Interactive, and the layoffs affected a “significant portion” of the team at all levels.

The cuts at the company come after Swedish publishing group Embracer, which owns Gearbox and Lost Boys Interactive, failed to secure $2 billion in funding from Saudi investors.
