International logistics company DHL sent commercial packages to the Moon for the first time in history. According to reports, it contained a number of souvenirs from Earth portal Collect the Field.

As part of the MoonBox project, the company has accepted more than 100 thousand applications from those who want to deliver memorable items to the Earth’s satellite. For the first group, 150 objects were selected; these include a stone from the top of Mount Everest, a time capsule from Belgium, selected posts from the internet forum Reddit, a letter from a space tourist to his late astronaut father, and a physical copy of the Dogecoin cryptocurrency token that has become an Internet meme.

The earthly parcel went to the Moon together with the Peregrine probe (Peregrine) of the American private aviation company Astrobotic on the Vulcan rocket built by the United Launch Alliance (a joint venture of Boeing and Lockheed Martin companies). The peregrine is expected to touch down on the lunar surface near the Gruithuisen volcanic peaks in the Gulf of Viscosity, on the visible side of the celestial body.

Astrobotic and DHL have opened reservations for new packages that will go to the Moon with new missions. Objects whose width, length and height do not exceed five centimeters are accepted for interplanetary delivery. Objects must be inert, meaning they cannot use electricity or send or receive data. The cost of the MoonBox service starts from $ 460 and reaches $ 25.8 thousand, excluding intra-Earth shipping.

Previously a Japanese company showed A ship under construction for the Moon landing.
