Japanese private space company ispace showed its work on the Resilience spacecraft, which they plan to launch to the Moon next winter. This was reported by the official bill Businesses on social network X (formerly Twitter).
“Our engineers are working on the engines, main body and electrical systems of the Resilience lunar spacecraft,” ispace said.
The Resilience module will be equipped with a small rover to explore the lunar surface.
The future mission will be ispace’s second attempt to land on the Moon. In December 2022, the company sent the Hakuto-R lander to Earth’s moon. The device was named after the white rabbit (“hakuto” translated from Japanese) that, according to folk legends, lived on the moon.
Hakuto-R reached the satellite’s orbit but crashed due to a calculation error.
In 2026, ispace expects to launch a third lunar mission for which a new Apex lander is being developed.
