Almost two-thirds of Russians (74%) see Telegram as a new mass media. socialbites.ca learned about this from a survey conducted by Mediacom.Expert together with Surveyolog.ru. The results of the research are made available to editors.
Nearly half (49%) of respondents see Telegram as a messaging tool, and the remaining 51% see the service as a full-fledged social network. Almost two-thirds (61%) of Russians regularly use Telegram to watch videos. 14% of them do this every day, 13% once a week, and 34% occasionally.
The majority of respondents (65%) named Telegram the messenger of the year. WhatsApp is in second place (29%), and Viber is in third place with 2%.
Two-thirds of Russians (65%) follow 2023 news from social networks, 60% from TV, 58% from news sites, 52% from information sources and 22% from radio.
76% of survey respondents have used chatbots in the past year, and 80% of them find them convenient. 20% of users think chatbots are inconvenient.
The survey was conducted between November 30 and December 10, 2023. 1,400 working Russians participated in it.
