About 22% of Russians fear that evil artificial intelligence (AI) like Skynet in the Terminator movie could ruin their future. This comes from a survey by domestic telecommunications infrastructure solution manufacturer Art Engineering.

8 percent of those who fear artificial intelligence fear that machines will make people unemployed. The other 14% say they are “afraid of robotization”.

“The growing artificial intelligence industry requires a strong infrastructure that requires the creation of new jobs and facilitates the emergence of new specializations. As for robotization, this is a completely different sector,” said Artem Senyushkin, commercial director of Art Engineering, commenting on the fears of Russians.

About 47% of the country is optimistic about the development of artificial intelligence technologies. Of these, more than 23% believe that neural networks can promote economic development, 9% hope to solve the problem of personnel shortages, and 14% hope that neural networks will free them from routine work.

Almost a third of respondents (32%) are neutral about the development of artificial intelligence technologies in Russia; This means that they are ready to accept innovations that come into life without any problems.

The survey was conducted in November 2023 and 2,463 Russians over the age of 18 participated in the survey.
