Chipmaker Qualcomm said its new Snapdragon X Elite PC processor is 21% faster than Apple’s M3 SoC. In this respect reports Digital Trends publication, which refers to the test results of the new product in the Geekbench test.
A demonstration of a computer with the new chipset was held in San Diego. During the Snapdragon X Elite test in multi-core mode, Geekbench scored 15,300 points. By comparison, the Apple M3 scored 12,154 in this test, which is 21% less.
Although the Qualcomm chip outperformed the Apple solution in the synthetic test, the power consumption and heat dissipation level of the Snapdragon X Elite was not disclosed to the press. According to rumors, the new processor can operate in two modes: in productive mode it consumes 80 W and requires active cooling in the form of a heatsink, and in energy-saving mode it consumes 23 W. In the second case, no additional air flow is required.
The first series of laptops powered by Qualcomm’s new Windows processor are expected to be released in 2024.
