Apple will introduce its fourth-generation AirPods wireless headphones in 2024, which will include a number of new features that will make the gadget more attractive to consumers. In this respect reports The MacRumors publication cites insider and Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman.
Apple will introduce two versions of AirPods 4 with different prices. It is intended to replace the AirPods 2 and AirPods 3 because they are not very different and confuse buyers.
In 2024, the headphones will have an updated design. Gourmet describes it as a crossover between the current AirPods and the shorter-legged AirPods Pro. Fit is expected to improve, but it’s unclear if Apple will add silicone tips.
The updated case will include speakers for Find My notifications and a USB-C charging port instead of Lightning. The high-end version of AirPods 4 will feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which has only been available on Pro models so far. This will allow customers to get ANC at a more affordable price.
In a software update, Apple will add a hearing aid mode that allows AirPods to become an over-the-counter alternative to traditional medical devices. Apple also plans to add tests to check hearing quality.
Gurman believes AirPods 4 will go on sale in September 2024.
