Trendfocus analysts spoke about Microsoft’s plans for WIndows 11. The bottom line, they say, is that the company plans to ban the installation of the latest operating system on the hard drives of pre-built PCs and laptops. SSDs may become the de facto standard.

The company noted that the deadline for rejecting hard drives as boot devices is 2023. As expected, the computer market will fully migrate to SSD as the main drive in the coming months. Microsoft declined to comment.

At the same time, we note that the type of disk is not specified in the system requirements for Windows 11, although loading and working with an SSD is much faster than from a hard disk. However, the requirements may change over time.

Switching to SSDs could drive up the price of finished PCs and laptops, as high-capacity buffered SSDs cost more than hard drives, analysts say. And even for the same price, an SSD will have less capacity.

It is also unclear what measures will be taken against manufacturers who have not met Microsoft’s requirements. In 2007, a portal appeared in St. Petersburg – enthusiasts opened nostalgic “computers”
