Activision Blizzard, one of the world’s largest video game companies, plans to pay approximately $50 million to settle a lawsuit filed by the California Department of Civil Rights. The state regulator went to court, claiming Activision Blizzard management ignored its employees’ complaints about sexual harassment and discrimination. As sources familiar with the situation told journalists, this trial contributed to the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft for $ 69 billion.
In February 2023, Activision agreed to pay $35 million to settle costs from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission related to its employee harassment disclosure policies. The commission found that the company did not have procedures in place to collect and consider complaints from staff affected by workplace misconduct.
Activision Blizzard also denied the allegations from government agencies.
