Gaming company Valve has urged players not to breathe the air coming out of the Steam Deck vent. In this respect reported Reddit user Metapod100 referenced a response from Valve support.
The Steam Deck discussion thread on Reddit has many posts about people’s experiences breathing Steam Deck exhaust. Some write that there is a pleasant smell coming from there, while others wonder how normal this is. Over time, the type of message about the impressions of breathing air through the console’s vent became a local meme.
One of the correspondents of socialbites.ca also conducted an experiment of breathing air from the Steam Deck.
“The smell coming from the console has a sweet taste,” he said.
A user with the nickname Metapod100 asked Valve support if it was possible to smell the Steam Deck exhaust. The company warned users against this activity in order to avoid health problems.
Reddit writers viewed the company’s response with irony. While someone wrote that the recommendation was long overdue for the vast majority of Steam Deck owners, others suggested that Valve release a Steam Deck-scented scent.
