The jury reached a verdict in the case filed by Epic Games against Google regarding the second company’s dominant position in the Android applications marketplace. In this respect reports The Verge’s edition.
The lawsuit between Epic Games and Google started three years ago. Along with Google, Apple has also fallen out of favor as a game developer. Epic Games accused American IT giants of monopolizing the application market and imposing their own conditions on developers.
The jury found that Google had monopoly power in the Android app distribution and in-app billing markets. Therefore, Google’s actions are anti-competitive and Epic Games is their victim. The jury found an illegal connection between Google’s Google Play app store and Google Play Billing payment services.
Google Vice President of Communications and Public Policy Wilson White said the company plans to appeal the decision. According to him, “the experiment clearly showed that Google is in fierce competition with Apple and the App Store, as well as with app stores for Android devices and game consoles.”
Previously Apple blocked The only way to send messages in iMessage from Android.
