WhatsApp has introduced a new feature that allows users to send self-destructing voice messages. About this service developers reported in the new press release.
This feature is called View Once and was made available on December 7, 2023. In this way, users can now record and send voice messages, which are automatically deleted after listening. Such messages in the chat are marked with a special sign that warns that the recording can be played only once.
“All private messages on WhatsApp, including voice messages, are end-to-end encrypted by default. The Play Once feature is another example of how we are improving communication privacy, the company said.
To create a self-deleting voice message, you need to press and hold the button with the microphone image in the WhatsApp dialog box. After one second of recording, a new icon with the number “1” will appear at the bottom of the screen. If you press it, a self-destruct feature will be added after the voice message is listened to.
WhatsApp is a popular instant messaging tool owned by the American IT company Meta (known as extremist and banned in Russia).
