Nintendo’s new console, believed to be called Switch 2, will feature an OLED display manufactured by Samsung. In this respect reports The Wccftech publication cites South Korean news site Chosun Biz.
According to Chosun Biz, Nintendo is in talks with Samsung Display to provide “next-generation OLED matrices for various IT devices.” Partnership negotiations started quite recently, on December 1, 2023. Before these, there was a scandal in which Samsung accused Chinese display manufacturer BOE of stealing trade secrets.
This insider contradicts initial rumors about Nintendo Switch 2. Previously, whistleblowers claimed that the Japanese gaming company was developing a console with an IPS screen. Wccftech believes that the new information may indicate the possibility of several Switch 2 models (with and without OLED displays) being released at the same time.
Wccftech also writes that, according to Revegnus, the announcement of Switch 2 could be made as early as 2024. Although earlier it was expected at the end of next year.
