Originally, the premiere of the GTA VI trailer was supposed to take place on the official YouTube channel of Rockstar Games at 17:00 Moscow time. The leak of the trailer angered many in the gaming industry. For example, Rockstar Games studio artist Javier Altman said that he and his colleagues lost a “private moment” due to the leak.
“I wanted to watch the video with my colleagues for the first time. I think we’ve had this moment. No matter what, I’m still proud of our work,” Javier wrote on X.
The Rockstar Games artist was supported by Larian Studios publishing director Michael Daus. According to him, planning the release of promotional materials is a process of establishing a dialogue between developers and the target audience. When a leak occurs, dialogue disappears and is replaced by “damn noise”.
In response, DarkViperAU, a blogger who produces GTA-related content, called for the authors of the leaks to be thrown into the mouth of the volcano. Insider Gaming reporter Tom Henderson believed that Rockstar Games was responsible for the leak. According to him, the company made a mistake the moment it decided to pre-upload the trailer on YouTube.
“I will make a reservation that I do not know whether the video was actually leaked from YouTube or not. “But when you upload it to the platform, thousands of employees have access to the content, whether limited or not,” he wrote.
