Google Company published An urgent security update for the Chrome browser that resolves a zero-day vulnerability. The update is already available for Windows, macOS and Linux.
According to Google itself, the detected vulnerability is already being actively used by attackers to attack users, so the company strongly recommends everyone to install a new version of the browser as soon as possible.
The update received seven security fixes, but the most significant is CVE-2023-6345, which relates to an integer overflow issue in the Skia 2D graphics library used in Chrome and other Google services such as Chrome OS, Android, and Flutter. This vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary code on the computer when a user opens a private web page in Chrome. So a hacker can take full control of the system, steal or delete data, install malware and much more.
To update Chrome to the latest version, you need to open the browser and select “Help” – “About Google Chrome Browser” in the parameters, wait for it to download and click the “Restart” button. If the browser has updated automatically, there is no need to restart it.
