A fake modification of the Telegram messenger was discovered in the GetApps application store built into Xiaomi smartphones, the official version of which was never available. The channel reports this TG Information.

Telegram version number 9.6.9 differs from the official one in that it contains icons that offer participation in the draw with cash prizes. Users also complain that the app can unexpectedly kick them out of their accounts, forcing them to log back into their accounts.

As TG Info points out, Telegram version 9.6.9 never existed and has nothing to do with the messaging developers’ “giveaway” money. It is assumed that this change was created with the aim of stealing users’ personal data.

It is unknown at what point the app appeared on GetApps. It ranks first in popularity among all programs in the communications category and has been downloaded more than 12 million times as of November 29.

Users who installed or used Telegram from GetApps were asked to delete this version, download the official one from the messenger website and end all other sessions in Telegram settings. This will disable all active sessions.
