A hacker attack on the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) has left nearly two million residents of several communities without access to city water supplies. In this respect reports broadcast Recorded from Future News (TRfRFN).

The incident occurred on November 28, 2023. NTMWD has more than 850 employees and operates water supply, wastewater treatment and solid waste management in 13 cities, including Plano and Frisco. It was not stated how long people had no access to water.

The management of the state-owned enterprise managed to restore the systems. NTMWD also reported that the incident had no impact on production.

According to official data, corporate networks and communication systems were damaged. However, extortion hackers from the Daixin Team group announced that NTMWD was hacked, as a result of which more than 33 thousand files containing customer information about the company were stolen.

The new incident was preceded by an attack on the Pennsylvania Water Department on November 27, 2023, which resulted in the shutdown of major systems and the deployment of backup capacity to ensure uninterrupted water supply.
