Rolls-Royce has tested the UltraFan jet engine equipped with a 365 cm cooler and proved that it can deliver a maximum power of 64 MW when running on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). In this respect reports New edition of Atlas.

Declared as the world’s largest and most powerful jet engine, this engine produced a maximum thrust of over 85 thousand pounds (approximately 38.5 thousand kg) in laboratory tests. The company also claims that this parameter can be increased to 110 thousand pounds (about 49.9 thousand kg) for narrow-body or wide-body aircraft that will appear in the next decade.

A special feature of the UltraFan is a turbofan with gearbox and variable pitch cooling system. This allows the turbine and engine coolers to operate at optimum speed, while the carbon composite wings can change their pitch to optimize each phase of flight. The use of composites means the engine is lighter than its titanium alloy counterpart and is 10% more efficient than the previous record-breaking Trent XWB engine.
