In conjunction with the 25th anniversary of the release of Half-Life, Valve has launched free distribution of the game on Steam. The promotion will run from November 17 to November 20, 2023, the portal reported DTF.
At the same time, Valve released an update for Half-Life that ensures full compatibility of the game with computers with widescreen monitors and the Steam Deck portable PC. Before this, Half-Life ran on consoles with some limitations.
Valve also announced a special discount on Half-Life games. These include Half-Life 2 for 38 rubles, Half-Life: Alyx for 646 rubles and the Half-Life Complete collection for 355 rubles. In addition, Valve presented the hour-long Half-Life: 25th Anniversary Documentary dedicated to the history of Half-Life’s creation.
It is stated that this is Valve’s second attempt to give Half-Life to players. The first distribution started on November 16, but due to technical problems, users could not add the game to their libraries.
Half-Life was released on November 19, 1998. According to numerous publications and gaming experts, this is one of the most important games in history. The project’s score on Metacritic is 96%.
