Shortly after information appeared on the Internet that Samsung plans to release a foldable smartphone next year that could cost up to $500, a representative of the Korean brand spoke to the publication. Korea JoongAng Daily (KJAD) rejected this version.

According to an unnamed Samsung representative, the company has no intention of producing budget-friendly foldable devices because their costs are too high.

According to the source, all Galaxy Z smartphones are equipped with expensive components, including a hinge and a folding screen. These parts alone would cost the manufacturer an amount equal to or greater than the cost of the intended budget smartphone. Therefore, Samsung sees no point in creating such a product.

Samsung is said to be exploring the possibility of expanding its foldable smartphone range at a lower price. It is assumed that the company will launch a budget Galaxy Z Flip FE in 2024, which will be priced between $400 and $500 and will have more modest specifications than the original clamshell model.

According to some reports, Huawei is also preparing to introduce a budget foldable smartphone.

Previously in Switzerland presented Smartphone with monthly subscription.
