A British Reddit user under the pseudonym TheEdmard received an Android hack while purchasing the original iPhone 15 Pro Max from the official Apple website. The portal reports this Android Authority.
According to Edmard’s report, he ordered an iPhone 15 Pro Max through the Apple website and received the package from the DPD courier service. At first glance, everything seemed normal: the shipping box and packaging of the iPhone 15 Pro Max showed no signs of tampering or damage.
However, when he opened the iPhone 15 Pro Max box, he saw that it was not the original smartphone but a cheap copy. The differences were obvious: The fake had thick bezels, an IPS display instead of OLED, and the screen was covered with a notched film from an older iPhone model.
Additionally, the fake was running on the Android operating system, which attempted to emulate the iOS interface. According to Edmard, this was done very poorly, because the system produced many errors and some applications did not work at all. Pre-installed services like TikTok, YouTube and others have also stated that it is fake.
In the comments to the post on the Reddit forum, users claimed that the change occurred during the delivery phase.
The Briton contacted Apple support, where they promised to look into the situation and contact him later.
