Disabling notifications from some apps and preventing them from running in the background can extend your smartphone’s battery life. In this respect reports Prime agency cited Vahe Zakaryan, IT expert and head of development of the Gem Space super app.

According to Zakarian, constantly opening notifications from applications and games accelerates battery consumption. You can offset this cost by leaving notifications on only from the apps you need in the app settings. For example, banks, instant messengers and social networks.

Another feature that can be disabled from the application settings is running in the background. As with notifications, it is recommended to enable it only in frequently used programs.

“This wastes the energy of the smartphone and also reduces the security of storing confidential information, because in the background applications not only download updates, but can also send information to third parties,” the expert warned.

The expert also recommended disabling access to geodata in unpopular applications. This option puts more strain on the battery and poses a threat to personal data.
