Microsoft will ban Xbox gamers from using unofficial gamepads starting November 12. The portal reports that users have already started receiving relevant alerts Windows Center.

Xbox users using non-Microsoft certified controllers will not be able to connect the accessories to their console. Currently when connecting a controller they get a warning saying controller support will be discontinued starting November 12th.

According to the Windows Central source, the blocking of uncertified accessories is due to Microsoft expanding its certified third-party Xbox wireless controller program.

The Xbox notification states that the owner must return the uncertified controller to the store where it was purchased. Users are also advised to purchase accessories only from official Microsoft partners; their list is available on the company’s website.

It is stated that for smooth operation, all Xbox accessories must have a special chip approved by Microsoft.
