Taiwan bans high-tech exports to Russia and Belarus

Taiwan’s Ministry of Economy reported that it had been banned from exporting some high-tech goods to Russia and Belarus. There are a number of items on the list.

The following categories are prohibited for export:

  • Microcircuits equipped with more than 144 contacts.
  • Chips with a speed of 5 or more gigaflops.
  • Devices with a clock speed greater than 25 MHz.
  • Solutions where ports or interfaces provide data transfer rates greater than 2.5 MB/s between components.

In addition, the export of X-ray and optical lithography equipment is prohibited – it is used for the manufacture of microcircuits. Also prohibited are sequential step lighting systems, scanning electron microscopes for checking microarrays and scanning equipment.
