The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) is negotiating with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to restore communications in the Gaza Strip using Starlink satellites. In an interview with a TV channel on this subject Al-Hadas PNA Communications Minister Yitzhak Sadr said:
According to the minister, the PNA is also cooperating with international and humanitarian organizations to deliver the necessary equipment to Gaza, and is also negotiating with Egypt to import equipment from the Rafah checkpoint. Sadr added that Starlink agreed to cooperate with Palestine.
“We have already contacted Starlink, we are working with international and humanitarian organizations to promote this equipment, we are preparing to purchase a number of installations… Starlink responded positively,” Sadr said.
The Gaza Strip faced serious communication and internet problems following Israel’s mass attacks. According to Al Arabia TV channel, mobile communications and internet stopped working in most of the region.
Starlink is a project of SpaceX, founded by American billionaire Elon Musk. The aim of the project is to create a global network of thousands of satellites that will provide high-speed Internet access anywhere in the world.
