Telecommunications operators noted an increase in Telegram traffic generated by Russian users in 2023. In this respect reports Vedomosti publication.
Tele2 reported that from January to September traffic almost doubled year on year. Megaphone recorded an increase of 80%. Beeline reported a 50% increase in traffic volume. MTS recorded a 35% increase.
According to Telecom Daily CEO Denis Kuskov, the total traffic volume on Telegram from all four operators will double in 2023. If in the first nine months of 2022 the Russians produced 25 TB of information on the messenger, this year the figure is already close to 50 TB.
Kuskov attributes the stated dynamics to the growth of the Telegram audience in Russia, as well as to the increase in the number of channels producing a lot of content. The launch of “stories” in Messenger also contributed.
WhatsApp traffic in Russia also increased in 2023, but to a much lesser extent. In Megafon networks – 10%, in Tele2 – 20%.
Previously at the Ministry of Digital Development reported about doubling the share of domestic IT product manufacturers.
