Following the introduction of mandatory two-factor authentication in Gosuslugi, users will have the opportunity to log in to their personal accounts from abroad, even if they do not have a Russian SIM card. The press service of the Ministry of Digital Development reported this to socialbites.ca. To log in to the portal, you can use an application for working with one-time passwords.

“Users who do not have a phone number linked to their Government Services account can use other options for additional protection. The simplest of them is a one-time code from a special application (TOTP). To use it, you can download any application designed to work with one-time passwords,” the Ministry of Digital Development said.

On October 20, the government adopted a decision requiring two-factor authentication for logging into a personal account in Gosuslugi. It was previously mandatory only for new portal users and those restoring their accounts. Now, in addition to your username and password, to enter your personal account you will need an additional confirmation method – a one-time SMS code, a code from a special application or biometric data.
