Google has banned popular benchmarks from being installed on its new Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones. The portal reports this Ledger Control.

According to the source, new Pixel 8 series smartphone users have been banned from downloading benchmarks such as Geekbench and 3DMark from Google Play.

Google has not officially announced the reason for this ban, but it is assumed that it is related to the poor performance of the new proprietary Tensor G3 chip used in the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. According to numerous reviews, Tensor G3 is inferior to its closest competitors in terms of overall and graphics performance.

It is possible that Google aims to hide the weaknesses of its chip in this way. However, the ban on installing benchmarks from Google Play will not prevent users from finding out the real performance of their smartphone, because on Android they can download the necessary applications from other sources or install them manually.

Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro went on sale on October 12 at prices starting from $ 699 and $ 999 (about 68 and 97.2 thousand rubles), respectively.

Previously DxOMark accepted Google Pixel 8 Pro is the smartphone with the best screen in the world.
