Suspicious chatbots have begun appearing on Telegram, selling the necessary voices to prompt stories on channels that internet scammers may be hiding behind. The leading analyst of the Digital Risk Protection department of the FAS.ST company told socialbites.ca. (former Russian division of Group-IB – editor’s note) Evgeny Egorov.
Last week, Telegram channels became able to publish stories. By default, this function is not available – to activate it, the channel must receive a certain number of “upgrades” (votes) from subscribers with premium accounts. Shortly after that, according to Egorov, chatbots began to appear in the messenger, offering to buy large amounts of “support”.
“You do not need to enter your bank card information for the transaction; They want you to make a transfer. The user transfers money, but does not receive any guarantee that he will actually receive an “upgrade” and his money will not be lost. However, the bot does not have a feedback form and does not display any contacts. Often fake sources work exactly according to this principle,” explained the expert.
On average, sounds in such bots are sold at a price of 180-190 rubles per piece.
