Experts at repairing faulty devices from iFixit published a video disassembling the iPhone 15 Pro Max and gave the new Apple smartphone a low score on its own repairability scale. Video clip available on the official iFixit YouTube channel.

Experts noticed that Apple redesigned the layout of the element base; Therefore, access to key components is now only possible by removing the screen and not the back panel, as on the base iPhone 15 and previous generation devices. Therefore, even during work not related to screen replacement or repair, the risk of accidental damage to the screen or cable increases.

iFixit also complained about Apple’s strict policy regarding the use of uncertified parts. After installing non-Apple approved components, iOS will remind users of the risks associated with using “gray” parts. This scenario even applies to official replacement parts for donor iPhones. iFixit believes that this Apple policy will heavily impact small service centers.

As a result, iFixit experts evaluated the repairability of the iPhone 15 Pro Max with a score of 4 out of 10. The company explained that the main reason for such a low score was precisely Apple’s new requirement. For the same reason, iFixit retroactively lowered the repairability of all versions of the iPhone 14 from 7 to 4 out of 10.

Previously Apple sent Guidelines for sellers justifying the perishability of FineWoven covers.
