The new fighting game Mortal Kombat 1 received a low user score on Metacritic due to the decision of developers at the NetherRealm studio to limit the operation of the game’s online functions in Russia and Belarus. In this respect reports DTF portal.
The game’s user rating on Metacritic at the time of publication amount 4.7 points out of 10. Since opening Early Access (September 14), Mortal Kombat 1 has received 451 points from players; Of these, 241 (52%) are negative, 204 (44%) are positive, and the remaining 19 (4%) are neutral.
DTF notes that players mostly criticize the fighting game for the lack of online modes in Russia and Belarus. According to dissatisfied players, this restriction is hypocrisy on the part of the developers, since during the beta testing phase online modes were available to users in the listed countries.
Online modes represent an important part of Mortal Kombat 1’s gameplay mechanics. Without them, players only have access to the story campaign – Russians and Belarusians cannot fight other players and complete daily missions.
Mortal Kombat 1 is a soft reboot of the series of the same name. The game entered early access on September 14, and its full release will take place on September 19. Mortal Kombat 1 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch.
